Seems Google App Engine & JDO fell out of love over the last 15 years. Fair enough, also happens to human couples over such a long period of time
I just wished Google would be a little more direct and say ‘you have to migrate from JDO to Objectify in order for your app to work here in 2025 Q3’ instead of this vague warning:
Just received an inspirational email from Erhvervshus Sydjylland about creating growth with new technologies – well I’m about to create growth with old technology: Downloaded my konzoomer.backend from 2010 and I’m about to make this old Google App Engine project run on modern cloud technology 🙂
It’s been 7 days since I got the idea to have AI read offers from leaflets and thereby replacing the old manual way of inputting offers – for konzoomer to work right it’s important to get the quantities & units right, since it sorts offers by price/kg, price/liter, etc.
3 days ago I created a prototype offer.xsd and did the first succesful test with Gemini 2.5 Pro
Today I finished the offer.xsd and ChatGPT 5 succeeded in also reading ‘croppedImageAsBase64’ – something Gemini 2.5 Pro had previously failed to do
Now it’s time to get the old backend up & running again and import the offers read by AI 🙂
